First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City has agreed to
be our Mission Treasury. So if you would like to make a personal donation to
our mission you can send a check to them, and they will send a check to
us(You'll find their address below). This enables you to receive a formal
receipt so that it will be tax deductable for you. Please make the check out to
First Presbyterian Church of Ponca City with a note labeling the check for Kati
Salmons' work in Policka, Czech Republic and also notify us of your contribution
as well either by email or snail mail. I'm excited that we can finally offer
you this possibility.
The second bit of information is that our session has approved to assemble a
committee which will choose someone to come in my place next year and continue
this program. This is an answer to so many prayers. Not only does this fully
open the door for this program to continue, but it means that the congregation
will be calling this person as it's own. As many of you know we are constantly
trying to join the communities of the English classes with the community of the
church. When I first came I truely felt the seperation, as if I was here just
because Jan brought me and they had to just put up with me while I was here.
However, over the year I felt how they began to accept me, and welcome me as
one of their own. This year the connection that I have with congregation
members has become even stronger, and with each new activity I feel like they
feel more and more involved with our ministry. We feel that by forming the
committee and selecting someone as their own, this will strengthen their
connection with the program and prepare them for another new face in Policka.
We will be looking for someone who likes to work with a variety of age groups in
a small group setting as well as being in front of a large group, has some
teaching experience, enjoys creating lesson plans, has an interest in church
activities, and most of all wants to build relationships with the people of
Policka. If you know of anyone who would be a good
candidate or would simply like to have an application and more information,
please contact me. I can send you an application in the mail or by email. We
have sent some information to several of our supporting churches, so some of you
will be receiving a letter and application in the mail next week. We now ask for
your prayers that God will prepare someone to come to the Czech Republic and
continue reaching out to this community and congregation.
